Yucatan is an imaginative variation of the ancient Mahjong game with a Mayan theme. This time, the objective of removing the colored tiles will be to uncover all the tomb chambers hidden beneath the tile pyramid. The tiles must be removed in a specific order, according to the color shown in a color wheel. Just as in Mahjong, it will be necessary that the tile to remove has at least one free side. There will be marks on the tiles to help you find your way, but this option can be deactivated to make the game even more challenging. In case one of the tiles gets trapped, it will break. The rainbow tiles, though infrequent, can match any other color.

You will have to plan each move carefully or you may reach a dead end, and in that case, you would have to begin from scratch, since you will have the chance to undo only the last move. As you advance in the game, the levels become increasingly difficult because new colors are added to the wheel.

This game’s appearance is customizable, and you will have three different board designs and four tile sets to choose from. Sadly, the graphics are poor, just as the sound effects.

As a whole, if you are fond of Mahjong and you would like to explore new variants of this game, I am sure Yucatan will keep you busy for a while.
